Tsinghua Professor wins Qian Xuesen Outstanding Contribution Award

Liang Bin, a professor at Tsinghua University’s Department of Automation, received the Qian Xuesen Outstanding Contribution Award at the Award Ceremony of China Space Foundation Prizes in Shanghai.

This award recognizes scientists and researchers who have made outstanding contributions over the past decade in areas such as basic research, key technological breakthroughs, major project implementation, and science popularization in the field of space exploration.

Liang Bin serves as the director of the Institute of Navigation and Control, chair of the Intelligent Decision Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, and technical editor of the IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics.

He has long been engaged in the research of intelligent robotics theory, technology, and applications, and is one of the China’s leading scholars in the field of space robotics. He has played a key role in the groundbreaking innovation and the evolution from “rigid to flexible” of China’s space robotics.

He has received one Special Award for National Science and Technology Progress of China, one First Prize for Technological Invention at the provincial and ministerial level, and three First Prizes for Scientific and Technological Progress at the same level.

Liang has taught space robotics for many years, authoring textbooks and cultivating a group of outstanding leading talents for China's space industry.
